Group counseling or group therapy is typically conducted with a group of six to ten people and led by our counselor. These small groups meet regularly and members of the group listen to each other and openly share their own experiences, thoughts, and feelings. Group counseling has been shown to have many benefits and can be extremely effective. Individuals attending group counseling can expect to feel emotionally supported through shared experiences with other group members.
At CM Therapy Solutions, I truly believe in the power of the group. My experience shows, and academic research supports, that individuals that attend group therapy are often more successful in their treatment and have a more satisfying treatment experience. In cases of abuse or trauma, groups provide social support, improve social networks, and they can reduce stigma, isolation, and feelings of alienation among members.
